Club news

Club Championship Winners

The Club Championship weekend was a great success with some great score and popular winners. The big winner was the course, which was in fantastic condition with the greens running as good as they ever have. Thanks to Barry and his team for their tireless work.

The weekend started with some great score with Greg Smith and Gary Clarke leading the Gross prize on 70 after the first round, Cormac McCarthy and Neil Miller Leading the nett on 68, Nicola Foster leading nett Ladies Scratch Cup on 71 and also leading the Gross Ladies Scratch cup on 78.

The second round was very tight coming through the final 9 holes with all the competitions in the balance. With a fantastic final 9 holes of 32 Greg Smith won the Scratch Price for men’s on 70 – 70 = 140 and Ryan Georgiou running him close 2 shot behind with a final round 69.

Ryan won the nett prize on 70 – 66 = 136. The Ladies Scratch Cup was also a close affair with Priyanka Parmar winning the Scratch trophy on 81 – 73 = 154 and Nicola Foster winning the net prize on 71 – 74 = 145.

Well done to all the winner and for Chris and Callum for putting on a lovely BBQ.

Hands up...

...if the only time you 'practice' your wedge play is when you hit a few shots at the start of your warm-up routine? Sadly, this isn't going to lead to a dialled in wedge game, which is one of the fastest ways to see your scores come tumbling down.

Sounds easy, right? Well, it could be but first there are two things you must do in order to start saving shots.

1. Correctly gapped wedge system - What we mean by this is having an equal gap between each club in your bag, so you're never left trying to 'manufacture' a shot on the golf course (this is where large numbers start).
